Middle School
The Middle School at Southpointe is a diverse and inclusive community made up of students from Grades 6 to 9 engaging in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP).
The MYP develops internationally-minded young people through a challenging and holistic framework that enhances the British Columbia curriculum. Our student experience is vast, with interdisciplinary classes including Sciences, Design, Arts Programming and Language Acquisition. Outdoor education and service learning are incorporated into the student experience, teaching life skills such as survival training, hiking, snowshoeing, canoeing, and community projects. The long-term community service project encourages students to participate in a self-directed inquiry, generate new insights, demonstrate skills, attitudes and knowledge, communicate effectively, demonstrate responsible action, appreciate the process of learning and take pride in their accomplishments.
Middle School students participate in Physical & Health Education classes where they are supported in achieving their personal best. These classes promote health, fitness and overall student wellbeing. In addition, students are encouraged to join our Titan Athletics to further develop their abilities, discover a new passion and become part of a team.
Students also have access to our Programme of Global Engagement which provides opportunities to travel out of province to cities and sights in Canada, the USA, and other international countries. These trips offer wonderful experiences to develop student perspectives and intercultural competencies and to engage in authentic learning in new contexts.
